External relations, policy & cooperation programme

Rana Elias joined the GICHD in February 2013. In March 2016, she became the Cooperation Programmes Coordinator. In this role, she is responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the Cooperation Programmes (CP) activities and managing partnerships with national mine action authorities. She coordinates activities of the Arab Regional Cooperation Programme; Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia Outreach Programme; and, the Francophone Programme. She also oversees the participation and services of the GICHD Advisors who are engaged in the CP agenda. In addition, she supports the strategic developments of the GICHD Cooperation Programmes and develops approaches to mobilise resources for the CP.

During her first three years at the GICHD, Rana Elias was an Information Management Advisor and subsequently the Information Management Support Coordinator.

Prior to joining the GICHD, Rana Elias worked for 10 years for the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS). Her latest position was with the UN Mine Action Coordination Centre in the Democratic Republic of Congo as the Information Management Officer. Prior to that, she worked with the UN Mine Action Coordination Center in South Lebanon as the Programme Information/IMSMA officer, where she was responsible for all aspects of Information Management, IMSMA and GIS. Rana Elias holds a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Balamand, Lebanon. She joined the mine action community in 2001 when she began working with the Landmine Resources Centre in Beirut.
