It is with great sadness that we have learnt about the passing of Mr. Stephan Nellen, GICHD Director from 2004 to 2008.
Stephan was instrumental in developing and strengthening the GICHD during its early years of existence. He was able to build trust and confidence towards the Centre from the many national mine action programmes around the globe. Through numerous missions to the field, he nurtured closed links with national directors and understood their needs. Internally, he will be remembered as a very empathic Director who was able to attract and retain talented mine action experts and outstanding colleagues.
Our deepest, most heartfelt condolences go to his wife, son and family.
