Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons, 1-4 April 2014, at the WMO

The GICHD will participate in two meetings taking place in the CCW framework:

  • Amended Protocol II Group of Experts, 1-2 April 2014, chaired by President-designate of the Sixteenth Conference of the High Contracting Parties to Amended Protocol II, Amb. Päivi Kairamo of Finland. The GICHD will make a presentation on improvised explosive devices (IED).
  • Protocol V Meeting of Experts, 3-4 April 2014, chaired by President-designate of the Eighth Conference of the High Contracting Parties to Protocol V, Amb. Katerina Sequensova of the Czech Republic. The GICHD will make a presentation on underwater clearance and participate in a panel on ammunition safety management and a discussion on Article 4.

The Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons: Unfinished Business, a side-event organised on April 4 at the UNOG Cinema, by the GICHD and the CCW Implementation Support Unit

In addition, during the Mine Awareness Day on 4 April, the GICHD will present on two topics during the event “CCW - unfinished business”. The first, carried out in collaboration with the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), will focus on the preliminary findings of the study on mines other than anti-personnel mines (MOTAPM). The second will focus on environmental concerns in mine action.
