This week, from 13-17 September, a regional workshop on "Ammunition Management, Survey and Clearance" is taking place in Cairo, Egypt. This workshop has been organised by the GICHD Arabic-Language Outreach Programme (AOP) in partnership with the Executive Secretariat for Demining and Development of the Northwest Coast, UNDP Egypt Office and the Egyptian Corps of Military Engineers.

Thirty-two participants from 14 countries are attending this workshop, which promotes up-to-date ammunition standards, procedures, equipment and practices. The workshop is designed to enhance the capacity of mine action national authorities, practitioners and military personnel in the Arab world on issues of risk management of ammunition and ERW contamination through survey and clearance.
