The GICHD’s Ammunition Management Advisory Team (AMAT) is pleased to announce that the European Union’s Council decided (CFSP 2022/2275) to continue supporting its efforts in developing and implementing an Arms and Ammunition Management Validation System (AAMVS). AMAT looks forward to continuing the implementation of this project which started in October 2019. This decision supports efforts to ensure the safe and secure management of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) and ammunition. For the next 3 years, the GICHD and AMAT will work with the European Union, partners, and organisations to create an operational AAMVS which can better inform decision makers in export control and international cooperation and assistance.
