With great sadness, the GICHD is following the escalation of hostilities in Ukraine. As a humanitarian organisation, we are gravely concerned about the humanitarian crises that these hostilities may cause, including the widespread proliferation of explosive ordnance that would cause suffering in local communities for years to come. We have been fostering collaboration and developing capacities in Ukraine to reduce risks from explosive ordnance since 2011 – with our last coordination mission taking place earlier this month.

The Centre stands in solidarity with our Ukrainian staff, their loved ones, and all our partners during this difficult time. We commit to continue our joint work in Ukraine as soon as the situation allows.
