From 31st May - 4th of June 2021, The Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) in coordination with the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine conducted the practical part of the Non-Technical Survey Training in Kharkiv-Merefa, Ukraine.

17 participants were in attendance from the Ministry of Defence Demining Centre, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the State Special Transport Service, HALO Trust, DDG, and FSD. Out of the 17 participants, four females attended the training.

The Theoretical part of the training was completed in March 2021 in Kamianets-Podilskyi, Ukraine.

The course involved a quick overview of the theoretical lessons covered in March, practical use of the NTS tools, and scenario-based field exercises with a focus on evidence-based approaches to NTS in various contexts and environments for surveys of landmines, cluster munitions, and other explosive remnants of war.

The training was generously supported by The Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement in the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Political-Military Affairs (PM/WRA), Switzerland  and the German Federal Foreign Office
