Within the context of the 2018 Landmine Monitor , published on 20th November, which reported an upswing of casualties in recent years, GICHD Director of Operations, Guy Rhodes opened the side event "Risk Education - Sharing Experiences from the Middle East."

This event was held on Wednesday, November 28th during the 17th Meeting of States Parties to the Antipersonnel Mine Ban Treaty in Geneva. With interventions from panelists representing NGOs, academia and the UN groups, this important discussion brought a many-layered perspective to how to bring mine risk education to the Middle East while clearance work is underway.
