The GICHD is currently delivering the first "Mine Action Subject Matter Interpreter Course“ in Ukraine. The aim of the course is to introduce professional interpreters and staff involved in technical training of Ukrainian Governmental Organisations and International Organisations to the specific terminology used in Mine Action and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) as well as to provide them with basic technical knowledge on ammunition, EOD and the main differences between post-Soviet and NATO ammunition categorisation. After completing the course, participants will use their newly acquired knowledge to support Mine Action conferences and training activities, conducted in English language, for an Ukrainian/Russian speaking audience.

This course is being offered in cooperation with the Danish Demining Group and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and it is generously funded by the Humanitarian Assistance Division of the German Federal Foreign Offfice
