On Friday 3 October, Swiss President Didier Burkhalter officially inaugurated the Maison de la Paix with Geneva State President François Longchamp and Geneva City Councilor Sandrine Salerno.

After the ceremony, President Burkhalter and his wife visited the offices of the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) and the Implementation Support Unit (ISU) of the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention, located in the third tower of this state-of-the-art building.

In the presence of Barbara Haering (GICHD Council of Foundation President), Ambassador Stefano Toscano (GICHD Director), and GICHD management and staff, the President and his wife showed great interest in the Centre’s and ISU’s activities.
