The GICHD and the Swiss company senseFLY recently trained HALO Trust operators to successfully employ the eBee system: a remotely piloted aircraft system (RPAS) that can be used as a professional mapping aircraft. The GICHD has partnered with senseFLY, the developers of the eBee, to assess the potential application, utility and feasibility of the eBee system.

The mine-action application of RPAS is being tested by different international organisations, including the HALO trust. These tests are an extension of the GICHD's feasibility study, the Mini Aerial Photography Plane Project (MAPP). The study is currently in its final stages, testing the operational implementation of RPAS technologies in the field in coordination with other survey tools. Further tests with HALO are scheduled to take place in 2015, after which a final report and case studies will be published.
