4 April 2025
Geneva, 2 April 2025 – The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) will host the Ukraine Mine Action Partner Coordination Workshop in Geneva from 7 to 8 April 2025, supported by key partners—Canada, Germany, Japan, and Switzerland. This high-level gathering will bring together over 100 stakeholders, including Ukrainian national authorities, donor governments, international organizations, and demining operators, to enhance coordination and accelerate mine action efforts in Ukraine.
Ukraine remains the most heavily mined country in the world, with extensive explosive ordnance contamination affecting civilian safety, economic recovery, and global food security. This workshop will serve as a platform to assess progress, share expertise, and strengthen partnerships under Ukraine’s National Mine Action Strategy, which aims to bring back to productive use 80% of contaminated land within the next decade.
The Ukraine Partner Coordination Workshop is a part of major, on-going long-term international support including last year’s Ukraine Mine Action Conference in Lausanne, Switzerland, the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin, Germany, as well as the upcoming Ukraine Mine Action Conference in Tokyo, Japan later this year.
