Research, Innovation, Standards and Operations (RISO)

Cainos Tamanikwa Joined the GICHD in January 2025 as an Advisor Standards and Operations. His current role involves enhancement of development and outreach of the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS), as well as supporting national authorities and stakeholders in developing their National Mine Action Standards (NMAS). In collaboration with other programs, he ensures good practices in the sector are standardised.

Prior to joining GICHD, Cainos spent two years with the HALO Trust supervising operations in Cambodia and Somalia. Previously, he was with the Zimbabwe Mine Action Centre (ZIMAC) coordinating operations including quality management and IM as well as updating APMBC reports. Cainos has military background with the Zimbabwe national Army where he was involved in mine clearance operations with the Army Engineers.

Cainos holds a master’s degree in leadership and Corporate Governance with the Bindura University of Science Education of Zimbabwe and a professional qualification in Governance and Accountancy with the Chartered Governance and Accountancy Institute in Zimbabwe. He holds EOD-3 and HIEDD-1 qualifications.
