Eleni Alexandrou

Chief of Operations

Eleni Alexandrou joined the GICHD in February 2019. In her most recent role as Planning Unit Manager, she leads the Planning Unit which is aimed at strengthening accountability, efficiency and effectiveness at the Centre. She oversees organizational planning, budgeting, and results-based management processes across the Centre, and manages the internal deployment of administrative support. Her role includes coordinating centre-wide planning and reporting cycles, monitoring progress towards strategic outcomes, and providing analysis to support management decision-making and steering.

Previously her role was dedicated to coordinating the Centres’ results-based management. Eleni continues to design, refine, and coordinate the GICHD’s RBM system as a means of driving continual improvement across the organization in support of the wider explosive ordnance risk reduction sector.

Before joining the GICHD, Eleni supported the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) in her role as programme officer for the Leadership, Crisis and Conflict Management program. Her work included managing and coordinating international events and courses in Georgia, Switzerland and Thailand. Previously, she had represented the Permanent Missions of Greece and the United Kingdom at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UN-HRC) as a human rights expert before joining the International Organization for Migration (IOM) as research consultant.

She holds a BA in Political Science and an LL.M in Human Rights and Humanitarian Law from the University of Essex, United Kingdom.
