Mine Action Managers Course

I would like to thank GICHD for providing me the opportunity to attend this helpful course. I learnt a lot from the course contents, instructors, and other participants. To me, the course content is quite comprehensive and suitable with those with management responsibilities. The instructors applied wide range of approaches, keeping us engaged and participating fully throughout this 10-day course.

I found the GICHD Mine Action Managers' Course extremely useful. The blended nature of the course, the interaction with Mine Action practitioners from several countries and organizations, quality reading materials, as well as the dedicated team of experienced facilitators all combined to make it a very enriching and beneficial experience.

This course provided me with a more in depth understanding of how to be an effective and efficient MA manager.  The exercises and group activities gave me an impression of how things work in real life. Aside from the intensive course program, I was able to interact with fellow participants who were equally engaging in sharing their own experiences and knowledge.

GICHD’s Mine Action Managers course provides a platform for members to collaborate on a more personal level. Everything taught has/will be beneficial to anyone that attends.

First, I would like to express my sincere thanks for invitation to join an important training, which is directly linked my role and responsibility. By participating in this training, I gained knowledge on international instruments, national policies, and operations.  Sharing knowledge and experiences with the fellow participants has also proved to be very valuable.  When back to my office, I will apply what I have learned in my daily work and pass some of lessons to my colleagues toward achieving our tasks. 

In this regard, I would like to take this opportunity to thanks GICHD, ARMAC and TMAC for hosting the training.

There are two takeaways that I would like to highlight from taking this course. First, in countries that are contaminated by mines, it is very important to leave no one behind, and second this is a very important course for mine action managers because it provides management mentorship as well as criteria and actions based on IMAS. From this course we can develop strategies and actions effectively and efficiently and mobilize domestic and international funding for mine action.

As managers, it’s important to have the accurate information as a first step to improve our effectiveness and efficiency. This course will help us in conducting trainings and prepare human resources by providing clear and transparent information and by setting criteria and indicators as well as clearly defining inputs and outputs.
