On 1 January 2005, the Interfaculty Reactor Institute (IRI) became part of the Faculty of Applied Sciences of the University of Technology Delft. Scientific research will continue in the Radiation, Radionuclides & Reactors (RRR) department of the faculty. The reactor, with its associated instruments and facilities, will continue as the Reactor Institute Delft (RID). The Reactor Institute Delft (RID) is part of Delft University of Technology. The Institute's principal scientific activities are materials research involving neutrons, electrons and positrons, as well as other nuclear techniques, physical aspects of nuclear reactors, research in radiation physics, radiation technology, radiochemistry, radiation chemistry and environmental research. The Institute has unique expertise in the area of nuclear reactors and associated scientific research. It is the Dutch national centre for training and research in this field.
