Demining related research activity: Image processing techniques for the detection of buried landmines. This research is performed in the context of a project on humanitarian de-mining (funded by the Belgian government). The ultimate goal is to develop a system that acquires image using GPR, metal detector and infrared cameras and then uses these images to try and detect mines. The aim is to reduce the cost of humanitarian de-mining in third-world countries by partly automating the process. Ghent UniversityŽs contribution focuses on image restoration and image fusion.
