OMAR is the principal organisation in the awareness and removal of mines in Afghanistan. Founded in 1990, it initially operated in the western provinces of Afghanistan, and has since branched out to the rest of the country. Its mine awareness teams conduct trainings and distribute mine awareness notebooks, mine posters, silkscreens, mine identification books and mines visual story books. It also establishes volunteer committees in selected high priority areas throughout the country.
