The annual intersessional meeting of the Anti-personnel Mine Ban Convention will open in Geneva on 8 June. This meeting provides the opportunity to take stock of the application of the Maputo Action Plan 2014-2019 and invites States Parties to report on how they are implementing key provisions of the Convention, share their current challenges as well their objectives to meet by the Fourth Review Conference.
On the second day of the meeting, June 9, the GICHD along with the UNDP will launch their new joint report “Leaving No One Behind: Mine Action and the Sustainable Development Goals”. During this side event, key findings from the report will be revealed and panelists will consider how mine action can play a catalytic role in mainstreaming and accelerating national implementation of the 2030 Agenda, as well as how the mine action sector can move beyond “business as usual” in planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting, as called for by the 2030 Agenda.
The intersessionals will run from 8-9 June at the World Meteorological Building in Geneva.
