Programme Officer

Melanie Negrete Velasco joined the GICHD in September 2020. As a Programme Officer in the Ammunition Management Advisory Team (AMAT), she coordinates the Ammunition Management Activity Platform (A-MAP) and provides support to programme management and missions. Her responsibilities include data collection, outreach, background research, drafting of studies and publications, translation, interpretation, planning, and reporting.

Prior joining the GICHD, Melanie Negrete Velasco completed an internship as Attaché at the Embassy of Switzerland in Kazakhstan.

Melanie holds a master’s degree in International Affairs from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID) and a Licentiate in International Relations from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). In the framework of her Licentiate thesis on the Russian influence on the Syrian proxy war, she studied one semester at the Moscow State University (MSU).
